Just a bit of an update.
I've been taking a "back to basics" approach to my art, meaning I've been filling my sketchbook pages with tons and tons of "practice" work that wouldn't look terribly coherent to anyone but myself. This has been a bit frustrating, since I'm in that in-between place where I KNOW what I want the art to do, but I'm having one hell of a time getting it to actually DO anything at all. It's a difficult stage to be in, and its slow going, but I have confidence that when I'm through this stage my work will be more fluid and lively than they have been before. It's just taking a while. My style seems to be wanting to change as well, as I notice that the lines, the mechanics, if you will, when I'm sketching/drawing seem to come out differently than they used to, which is a bit disconcerting.
With that plus the stress of work running me ragged these days, I've turned back to my old, comforting pal called "Pick a New Craft and throw yourself at it Whole Hog until you feel better." (which a very kind soul at ArmadilloCon reminded me about) Thus the flood of handmade book submissions. Bare with me for a while and someday the "real artwork" will come back. In the meanwhile, I hope you enjoy my side trips.
